It’s late, I’m busy…

Here are two articles that are generally worth your time. I'm listening to some terrific music and I've got a great book so I don’t have the time to excerpt them in the usual way.

First, from Slate, we have a report on the latest assault on abortion: microscopic Americans! Yes, the Department of Health and Human Services is going to start calling the process of donating unused fertilized human embryos, the spares you didn’t need to get preggers, embryo “adoption.”

This is one more step in the plot to confer human-hood-dom-ness to our embryonic buddies so that aborting those little devils becomes - dare I say the word - murder. Abortion is not my business. It’s the mother’s, the father’s (if he’s around), and the doctor’s. It’s not the government’s. Here’s the article:
Clump of cells or "microscopic American"?

OK then, the other article is from Slate; is not “fair and balanced” (as if I care), but is sort of fun. It compares our Dear Leader with their Dear Leader. Title:
The Propaganda President; George W. Bush does his best Kim Jong-il.

It begins thusly: “If "Dear Leader" Kim Jong-il of North Korea and George W. Bush ever meet, I suspect the two will bond like long-lost brothers. Both men are first-born sons of powerful fathers who partied like adolescents well into their adult lives, after which they submitted to their dynastic fates as heads of state.”

It’s fun and pithy. Enjoy the article at the link above.
